Selective catalytic reduction Wikipedia
Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is a means of converting nitrogen oxides, also referred to as NO x with the aid of a catalyst into diatomic nitrogen (N 2), and water (H 2 O).A reductant, typically anhydrous ammonia (NH 3), aqueous ammonia (NH 4 OH), or an urea (CO(NH 2) 2) solution, is added to a stream of flue or exhaust gas and is reacted onto a catalyst.

What is normal NOx sensor readings? – Mysweetindulgence
Many NOx sensors work by first removing oxygen and then breaking down the nitrogen oxides to provide a reading. Urea, composed of ammonia, is injected into exhaust gas to interact with NOx, converting it into harmless nitrogen and oxygen. Why are NOx sensors so expensive?
NOx Sensor: What does it do How does it work?
24/3/2021· A NOx sensor is a part of an SCR system that measures the amount of nitrogen oxide in a vehicle’s exhaust. This way, the SCR knows the proper amount of urea or ammonia in order to provide better fuel economy and less harmful emissions. A Jesben branded NOx sensor. Apart from realtime measurement of NOx levels, some NOx sensors also watch out ...

Removal of NOx sensor ammonia cross sensitivity from ...
15/6/2015· 5. Conclusions. In this work, we have devoted to the NO x sensor ammonia crosssensitivity problem in SCR systems. It is well known that the NO x sensor ammonia crosssensitivity would severely affect the reading of NO x sensor. By assuming that the variation of crosssensitivity is bounded, a design approach of robust mixed H 2 / H ∞ gainscheduling observer was proposed.
NOx sensor MEYLE
Defective NOx sensors can have farreaching consequences for the operation of the vehicle, such as temporary or permanent engine emergency running, exceeding exhaust gas limits and increased AdBlue consumption. Another possible consequence is a high ammonia content in the exhaust gases, which can lead to corrosion of the entire exhaust system ...

Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) Emissions |
The reduced ammonia concentration in an aqueous solution reduces safety concerns associated with anhydrous ammonia. The NH 3:NOx ratio can be varied to achieve the desired level of NOx reduction. It takes one mole of ammonia to reduce one mole of NO, and two moles of …
Nox Sensor – DPF Parts Direct
A nitrogen oxide sensor is a hightemperature device built with intricate technology to detect nitrogen oxides in the air, ammonia concentrations, and emissions regulations in combustion environments, such as in the exhaust of a truck with a diesel motor. The temperature detection on this device is imperative for its level of effectiveness.

What causes NOx sensor to go bad? –
16/3/2021· What does ammonia look like on a NoX sensor? If too much DEF is injected into the exhaust, the SCR brick can become saturated with ammonia and some of it will exit the SCR assembly. This is called “ammonia slip”. To a NOx sensor, ammonia and NOx look the same.
NOx Sensor AmmoniaCrossSensitivity Factor Estimation in ...
1/6/2015· Since the NO x sensor is crosssensitive to gaseous ammonia, the reading of NO x sensor may not be accurate when the gaseous ammonia is involved and it is a combination of the actual NO x concentration plus the ammonia concentration multiplied by a factor. The factor is named as NO x sensor crosssensitivity factor.

Measurement of NH3 Concentrations in Stack Flue Gas Using ...
The ammonia (NH3) gas is injected to remove the NOx and thus reduce the NOx concentration in the stack flue gas. With conventional NH3 analyzers that perform measurements indirectly, NH3 concentrations are obtained through a sampling system. Therefore, there are problems with the maintenance and running costs of the sampling system, and time delays in measurement.
